The New Cottage Flush Casement from Timber Windows

The Cottage Flush Casement window from Timber Windows, the name behind the country's finest network of specialist timber showrooms dedicated to the supply and installation of hand-made windows, doors and garden rooms, offers many design attributes to help address small, finely detailed cottage windows.

cottage flush casements

In the conventional way, Cottage Flush Casements close into the frame but have the added advantage of allowing 10% more light into the building. Timber Windows have maximised light entry by using slimmer sections to construct the frame and sashes and by overcoming the need for vertical structural mullions.
With slim meeting rails and plenty of glass, these attractive, high performance casement windows are well suited to traditional cottages and the replacement of smaller, finely constructed original windows.
With minimal vertical timber framing, the new windows reinstated the fine, elegant lines of the originals. Meanwhile the increased glass area of the Cottage Flush Casement also helped to maximise solar gain, allowing the house to benefit from free energy from the sun to keep the old cottage warm. High performance glazing was incorporated to further boost energy efficiency and reduce fuel bills.

Secure locks which engage in multiple points around the perimeter of every opener, as well as ventilation grooves, are just some of the innovations that are built-in discreetly and unobtrusively. A range of fine glazing bars may be added to any configuration to retain existing window style. To maximise daylight when open, all sashes can be ajar by raising the concealed lever in the rebate which releases the centre sash.

Cottage Flush Casements by Timber Windows are available hand-finished in hundreds of traditional colours and timber stains and can be colour-matched to Farrow & Ball and Fired Earth paint ranges. Traditional cottage-style ironmongery is fitted as standard in a variety of styles and finishes, or homeowners can choose from a wide selection of beautifully coordinated ironmongery and accessories from the Samuel Heath collection.

How can Timber Windows help sell your home?

Selling your house and moving in today's tough market conditions isn't easy and where there is property for sale it's certainly a buyer's market. Many people are not taking the risk as there is too much uncertainty. The question being asked is 'when will the market stabilise?' No one can predict this and if market improvement isn't in the short term then now could be the time to improve, upgrade, enhance your home so you are fully prepared when the market returns.

There is always the worry about continuity of employment but for those in a stable situation disposable income is rising fast with the continuing low rates of interest on mortgages and loans. For those on fixed interest trackers monthly payments on an average £150K mortgage has put £300 to £500 back in to the household purse. This new ‘wealth’ can be used now to fund improvements to your existing home providing much better accommodation while making your property more saleable.
Under Green Deal, if you upgrade your windows and doors to a more energy efficient type, householders will be able to add some of the cost of the project to a Green Deal Charge with repayments being made through your electricity bill.  In many cases homeowners will still need to make an upfront contribution which can be paid in cash or through private finance.  The Department of Energy and Climate Change – DECC - has the framework in place this October ‘12 although funding  will not be available until late January 13 it’s worth considering this upgrade measure now.

Few would argue that the kerbside appeal of a house is the biggest selling feature and nothing adds more to this than well designed windows and doors. Good looking fenestration on its own can easily sway potential buyers from the very first impression.  If your home does not have the wow! factor and you are in the fortunate position of having the extra spending power, now is the time to act.

So why not visit Timber Windows of Fornham or Ingatestone and talk to specialist advisers about stylish and energy efficient windows, doors and garden rooms that will really turn your house into something to admire and desire. Things have changed since the growth of aluminium and, more recently, reinforced plastic, and timber is again the first choice as the frame material – good to look at, warm to touch, natural and sustainable. This is largely driven by the very real “green” credentials that timber offers and to the massive improvements in product design and quality incorporated into the Timber Windows’ collections.

Windows and doors by Timber Windows are made using multi-layer timber components made up of clean laminated and finger jointed sections. These are produced at the source, close to certificated forests where the trees are harvested.  Only clean knot free, stable components are used in the manufacture of our windows and doors which are finished using environmentally friendly micro-porous paint finishes for long maintenance cycles.

Our made-to order windows and doors come double glazed as standard in a wide range of styles and paint finishes.  Our thermally efficient products provide differing levels of performance that comply with the requirements of the Government’s Code for Sustainable Homes policy. This standard is driving new housing provision to Zero Carbon by 2016 which means that timber windows and doors, which are made from the earth’s only renewable natural material, can provide your required light, energy efficiency and aesthetic requirements for the future and meet the drive for Zero Carbon.

Visit  us today and we can help you plan your project from initial estimate all the way to the completion of the installation. Hassle free, so you have time to enjoy your new windows and doors.

Timber Windows, the name behind the country’s finest network of specialist timber showrooms dedicated to the supply and installation of hand-made windows, doors and garden rooms, believe a striking entrance door is at the heart of every home and extends the broadest welcome to friends and family.
Conventional Entrance Door

In both traditional and contemporary designs, the Timber Windows collection offers a wide range of styles that suite with windows and conservatories for the ultimate coordinated look.

Hung on robust, fully adjustable hinges, colour coordinated to the handle and door threshold, these doors feature high security multipoint locking systems which meet the very highest levels of recognised security standards. Town house doors are another option from Timber Windows where an external handle is replaced by an escutcheon plate at eye level replicating the appearance of a traditional mortice lock, and a centre pull knob is fitted to the mid-rail.
A selection of decorative glass options has been uniquely commissioned for this popular range in a variety of colours that will complement the door finish together with beautiful ironmongery, elegant period handles, letter plates and knockers.

Five stylish award-winning Contemporary Entrance Door designs are available to complement modern properties or add a design statement to a period conversion. Whatever the style, Timber Windows use only multi-layered, warp and twist resistant timber throughout the construction for total functionality and solid operation, and high specification glazing is fitted as standard. Whilst factory applied paint finishes ensure a long life and reduced maintenance, there is the option for hand-finished paints and timber stains and the capacity to dual-colour the inside of the door to complement interior decoration.
