CASE STUDY: Kirby-Le-Soken, Ms Reed and Mr Cross

Installed by Timber Windows of Ingatestone for Ms Reed, and Mr Cross Kirby Le Soken, Essex.
Date: April 2012
Range: Traditional
Products: Traditional flush casements windows and traditional front door
Ms Reed explains “Dane Cottage was built around 1620 and possibly the oldest property in Kirby le Soken.” Kirby-le-Soken is a traditional English village; it is isolated from surrounding villages and retains a village shop, two pubs and the Church. This isolation is due to local council policy which ensures developers cannot build on the agricultural land that surrounds the village.

Ms Reed describes how important it was to keep timber within the building whilst giving it a modern uplift “It was imperative to us that we replace the windows with timber in keeping with the character of the property but at the same time adding a more up to date look with coloured windows.” She carries onto clarify upon why they made the decisions they made for the colouring “We decided on dual colours, so that the internal colour was cream which complimented the internal decoration and lightened the rooms considerably.

“The main reason for replacing our windows and door was that the previous ones were not double glazed and were ill fitting, which meant that they were drafty and on a really windy day, we would get debris in from the trees opposite. It also meant that our fuel bills were high as there was quite a lot of heat loss through” This then lead to Ms Reed and Mr Cross choosing Timber Windows of Ingatestone it was also their nearest point of contact.

Testimonial: “Apart from the visual aspect, which is very attractive, one of the major benefits is the noise reduction from the traffic, which can be excessive at time.... this has been a major boon!, The windows are beautiful”

CASE STUDY: Norton, Suffolk- Mr and Mrs Reed

Installed by Timber Windows of Fornham for Mr and Mrs Reed, Norton, Suffolk.
Date: June 2012
Range: Traditional
Products: Traditional flush casements windows

Originally built in the 18th century, this property has had major editions since then. In the 1990’s and extension was built onto the property still in keeping with the 18th century  main building. Norton is a village and a parish in Stow district, Suffolk it comprises 2, 449 acres with a population of 948 in 208 houses. In Henry VII’s time a search for gold was done in the village of Norton.
Mr. Norton explains why he and his wife decided on new Windows; “quality” he states the reason for wanting new windows to be “A want to replace the old windows which where cold and scruffy and the need to be more energy efficient”

Five traditional flush casements were installed in five main areas of the house.  All 5 windows where matching with Period black iron monkey tail, astragal Squares and a Cream Finish. All products in multi-layer European Redwood with timber sections for added stability. Internally beaded throughout for security.
The Flush casement windows where installed with high security multi-point 'perimeter' locking systems. Fitted with locking handles with matching peg stays to all side openers
Mr Reed wanted a reputable company that had experience in quality. In 2011 Mr Reed trawled the internet looking for timber window companies and he found www.timberwindows.com  then in 2012 he was reminded about our company through a letter drop after a consultation he knew we were the right company for him
Testimonial: “I selected to use Timber windows of Fornham as I was very impressed with the quality of workmanship and innovation of their windows. We have an older style house with very poorly insulated wooden Georgian casement style windows. We had been desperately keen to upgrade to modern efficient double glazing but refused to opt for cheap UPVC windows. The look and feel of the house would have been fundamentally ruined so we knew we had to choose wood. But we wanted wooden windows that look as similar as possible to the original but with modern insulating efficiency. Having visited Timber Windows of Fornhams display office we were able to confidently see first hand the type of quality we were to receive. However, the window quality is only part of it. Any concerns I may have had about the quality of the fitting service disappeared very quickly. The two very experienced fitters arrived on time, were courteous, efficient and expertly skilled. They fitted the windows with absolute minimal damage and finished superbly. Having windows fitted of this expense you need to have the confidence in the service and overall quality. I would 100% recommend Timber Windows of Fornham to anyone looking for a high quality product, finish and service.”

CASE STUDY: Great Bardfield- Ms Spong

Great Bardfield, Braintree- Traditional lipped casement windows

Traditional product range to complement traditional brick and timber framed property.
Installed by Timber Windows of Ingatestone for Mr and Mrs Spong Great Bardfield, Essex.
Date: June 2012

Range: Traditional

Products: Traditional lipped casement windows and doors.

The property was built in 1640 and is made of part timber and part brick like many of the houses around this area. Great Bardfield is a town steeped in history and surrounded by countryside which is enjoyed by many walkers who visit the little town.
Mrs Spong explained “The old windows and doors where in poor state or repair, drafty and rotten.”

Eleven traditional lipped casements were installed, as well as one french door and one entrance door. All products where matching with a Period black iron monkey tail, astragal Squares and a dual colour finish (French grey and white). The French door was Aspley with a kirkpatrick lever in antique black to complement the windows as was the entrance door, these where also both dual colour to fit in with the theme of the building.
Mrs Spong describes; “ we had done lots of research on the internernet, all we knew is that we wanted wooden windows to fit in with the timber frames already in  the property, we found timber windows and visited the showroom” she then carried onto say “I would absolutley recommend timber windows to my friends and family”
Testimonial: “Our expierence of timber windows was excellent, the workmen where really good the house was left so clean after each day of work, clean as if no one had even been there”
