New Hidden Spring™ sash window from Timber Windows

Timber Windows, creators of the country’s finest network of specialist timber showrooms dedicated to the supply and installation of hand-made windows, doors and garden rooms, have introduced the Hidden Spring™ sash window to their comprehensive collection.

This innovative design, manufactured from twist and warp resistant engineered timber, faithfully reproduces the much-loved traditional sash window but utilises modern spring balances rather than the original counterbalance weight and pulley system. To avoid detracting from the window’s elegant and authentic style, Timber Windows has concealed these springs within the box frame without compromising its smooth operation.

The new Hidden Spring™ sash window is ideal for more modern buildings that do not have sufficient rebate to accommodate a full box sash. “We think ‘slim’ at Timber Windows,” says Chris Brunsdon, Sales and Marketing Director, “and as with our Conventional box sash the dimensions of frames, meeting rails and glazing bars have been designed to be ‘slim’ with traditional mouldings subtly modified to suit modern construction methods.

These factory-finished windows are extremely energy efficient incorporating double glazed units with enhanced thermally insulating glass. A centre pane U-value of 1.1 W/m²K, which far exceeds the requirements of current Building Regulations’, results in an 80% increase in energy savings compared to a single glazed window, and a 45% increase in energy savings when compared to standard double glazing. Efficient draught stripping eliminates rattles and minimises heat loss. The performance of these windows will contribute substantially to reduced energy costs in a home and essential control of CO2 emissions.

The hand-finished Hidden Spring™ sash by award-winning Timber Windows is available in hundreds of paint shades and stains. Please ask about the colour matching service to Farrow & Ball and Fired Earth paint ranges. High quality catches and sash lifts in brass or chrome are fitted as standard, and complementary casements and doors can be fitted with hardware from a wide range of beautifully coordinated Samuel Heath ironmongery.
